Scientific Protection

Background: Scientific Protection (SPS) is an independent UK parent company registered in Scotland. The Company is based in Scotland to take advantage of Scottish and European scientific and respiratory protection expertise, and easy access to accredited laboratories in Europe for testing purposes under both European EN and US NIOSH standards. Scientific Protection is a stand-alone UK spin-out from the Institute for Applied Science Inc., a US based corporation established in 1997 to promote science for peace and security by commercializing science and Intellectual Property developed in national labs.

Mission: Work with the national/international scientific community to Promote science for peace and security by conducting research, development and prototyping of new technologies to address internationally identified science & technology shortfalls.

Objectives:

  • Promote international scientific cooperation for peace and security.
  • Undertake R&D addressing identified science & technology requirements & operational shortfalls.
  • Contribute to basic and applied research by advancing overall scientific knowledge and technical capability in the areas in which we work.
  • Get tools in the hands of users who need them.

  • Scientific Protection specializes in research, development and manufacture of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for use by first responders, law-enforcement, government agencies and the general public.
  • Scientific Protection also specializes in R&D in oceanic science. As Jacques Cousteau, the co-inventor of the Scuba Diver’s aqualung famously said: “We must plant the sea and herd its animals using the sea as farmers instead of hunters. That is what civilization is all about – farming replacing hunting.”
